Pre-Prom Snack Hacks
Everyone knows the craziness that is “Prom Day.” You wake up, skip breakfast-because you're running late to your hair appointment- and then, barely eat any food the rest of the day, so you aren’t bloated for pictures. This habit that we have created is unhealthy and unsafe. If you plan on dancing the night away, your body needs the right fuel to keep you going throughout the whole night. Sometimes the hardest part of eating a snack, is figuring out what’s healthy and what’s junk. Lucky for you, I put together a list of ideas that will give you the necessary nutrients without the unnecessary bloating.
Breakfast.
It’s said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why skip it? Personally, my favorite breakfast is just a protein smoothie, here's my recipe.
You'll need a banana, peanut butter, vanilla protein powder, coffee creamer, milk, and ice. I normally make this in a single serve cup, but you could easily double or triple the recipe to make more.
First, I pour in about ⅔ a cup of milk, a tiny splash of coffee creamer, and one scoop of vanilla protein powder. Follow that with 1 whole banana (I break it in half so it’s easier to blend) and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Add ice and then blend it up! You could also add some coffee to the drink as well if you need a morning pick me up. Of course, you can always add more or less of the liquids depending on your preferred consistency. I prefer mine prepared this way, but comment below with your favorite breakfast smoothie!
Snacks.
One simple snack idea that is rich in nutrients, and one of my favs, is apples and peanut butter. It’s as easy as it sounds and great on the go. You’ll need an apple, peanut butter, and some oats and chocolate chips as well, if you desire.
First, slice up an apple and then dip, or spread, the slice into the peanut butter. If you feel like spicing it up a bit , thinly slice the apple horizontally, spread on the peanut butter, and add some oats and chocolate chips. This not only looks super cute, but it also adds some extra nutrients. Plus, who doesn't love chocolate chips?
