Pre-Prom Snack Hacks

Everyone knows the craziness that is “Prom Day.” You wake up, skip breakfast-because you're running late to your hair appointment- and then, barely eat any food the rest of the day, so you aren’t bloated for pictures. This habit that we have created is unhealthy and unsafe. If you plan on dancing the night away, your body needs the right fuel to keep you going throughout the whole night. Sometimes the hardest part of eating a snack, is figuring out what’s healthy and what’s junk. Lucky for you, I put together a list of ideas that will give you the necessary nutrients without the unnecessary bloating.

Breakfast.

It’s said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why skip it? Personally, my favorite breakfast is just a protein smoothie, here's my recipe.

You'll need a banana, peanut butter, vanilla protein powder, coffee creamer, milk, and ice. I normally make this in a single serve cup, but you could easily double or triple the recipe to make more.

First, I pour in about ⅔ a cup of milk, a tiny splash of coffee creamer, and one scoop of vanilla protein powder. Follow that with 1 whole banana (I break it in half so it’s easier to blend) and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Add ice and then blend it up!  You could also add some coffee to the drink as well if you need a morning pick me up. Of course, you can always add more or less of the liquids depending on your preferred consistency. I prefer mine prepared this way, but comment below with your favorite breakfast smoothie!

Snacks.

One simple snack idea that is rich in nutrients, and one of my favs, is apples and peanut butter.  It’s as easy as it sounds and great on the go. You’ll need an apple, peanut butter, and some oats and chocolate chips as well, if you desire.

First, slice up an apple and then dip, or spread, the slice into the peanut butter. If you feel like spicing it up a bit , thinly slice the apple horizontally, spread on the peanut butter, and add some oats and chocolate chips. This not only looks super cute, but it also adds some extra nutrients. Plus, who doesn't love chocolate chips?

Another great prom snack is frozen yogurt fruit bites. This recipe does take a little more planning, but it’s so worth it. Again, this snack is as simple as it sounds. All you need is your favorite yogurt, fruit of your choice, and an ice cube tray.
First you're going to take the fruit and chop it up into little pieces, keeping in mind they'll have to fit into an ice cube tray. Once cut, fill each cube slot with 1 or 2 pieces of each fruit. (Or as many as you can fit) Then, fill the rest of the slot with yogurt and pop it into the freezer for about 3-4 hours. This recipe is super easy,  fun to make, and fun to eat!
These quick and easy meals are a great way to keep your tummy and heart happy during the long day of prep before the prom dinner. Leave your favorite recipes below to help other girls out!
